Single-point referencing helps to avoid multiple instrument set-ups and allows the surgeon to make straightforward, accurate, and reproducible bone cuts.
MICRO-MILL Handpiece, a Zimmer Distinctive
The bone is milled with a cutter that is similar to a router bit used in woodworking applications. The cutter revolves while captured within the fixed template guide. Moving the instrument along the template's channel, as described in the surgical technique, allows the surgeon to achieve highly accurate and reproducible results.

Thermal Necrosis Reduction
Milling reduces the amount of heat generation on the bone surface. This helps to preserve viable bone at the prepared surface. Milling has also been shown to provide flatter cut surfaces, which help to enhance component fit.
